Atlanta Life: Sweetwater Creek

Atlanta/ Travel

My ultimate favorite thing about living in Atlanta is getting a taste of city when you feel like and country when you feel like it. We found a gem only about 30 min. from the hustle and bustle of the city, Sweetwater Creek.

The day was filled with nostalgia! Going to the creek reminded me of when I used to go to summer camp and we would occasionally walk down to the creek where we would play with frogs and make things out of the clay we found under the dirt.

It’s also very bizarre how “humbling” it is to be one with nature. What I mean by that is no matter how much money you have or how many things you own, you just can’t put a price on the beauty of natural elements and experiences. Nature is amazing and it’s free, the perfect combo!

We ended up making a whole day out of our little trip to Sweetwater Creek. When we first arrived, because it’s a state park, there was a $5 parking fee. The parking fee is good for the whole day and is valid for all of the various entrances and trails of the park.

We took a deluxe (with canopy) paddleboat ride for an hour for $40, but I HIGHLY recommend saving some money and only using it for a half-hour. I didn’t take into account that this is actual exercise ha!

After our paddleboat ride, we went for a hike and had a picnic near the creek. There’s a series of trails but ¬†we took the beginner to moderate one, the red trail.

The red trail was almost a mile and from the parking lot to the creek, it was about a 30 min. walk.
